Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026

Maura is operated by Noesis Trading Co. Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Maura ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Maura app.

It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it in plainer words.

The short version

Almost nothing you write in Maura ever leaves your phone. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address and no password. Your journal, your answers, your six-week plan, your tracker and anything you record are stored only on your device, and we cannot see them. Neither can anybody else.

The single exception is the coach, which you have to choose to use, and which is explained in its own section below.

What we do not collect

To be specific, because "we value your privacy" means nothing on its own. We do not collect, receive, store or have any access to:

We do not show ads in the app, we never touch your device's advertising identifier without asking you first through the system permission prompt, and we do not sell or share anything with data brokers.

What is stored on your device

Everything you create in Maura is written to a database on your phone. That includes your onboarding answers, your plan, your journal, your check-ins, your tracker, your saved scripts and any audio or images you record.

This has one important consequence, and it is worth being blunt about it:

There is no backup. If you delete the app, lose your phone or reset it, everything you have written is gone, and we cannot recover it because we never had it.

You can erase everything at any time with Delete everything in Profile. That empties the database on your device immediately. Since we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete at our end.

The coach

The coach is optional. If you never open it, nothing you write is ever transmitted anywhere.

When you send the coach a message:

If you attach a screenshot of a conversation, it will contain the other person's messages as well as your own. They have not agreed to that. Please think about it before you send one, and crop out anything that is not needed.

The identifier used is a random string generated by our payments provider on first launch. It is not your name, your email or your phone, and it is not linked to any account, because there are no accounts.

OpenAI processes the message to generate a reply and, under our agreement with them, does not use it to train their models.

Some messages never reach the server at all. If you write about violence, abuse, or harming yourself, Maura recognises that on your phone, does not send it, and shows you a helpline instead.

Payments

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details, your billing address or your Apple or Google account.

We use RevenueCat to tell us whether a purchase or subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and the status of the purchase. It does not receive anything you have written.

Advertising measurement

Maura does not show ads. We do buy ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) so that women can find the app, and the app includes Meta's measurement kit so those campaigns can learn which ads led to installs.

What it reports: that an install opened the app, finished onboarding, saw a price screen, or made a purchase, and for a purchase the price paid. That is the entire list.

What it never contains: anything you have written. Not your journal, not your answers, not your messages to the coach, not which lessons you read.

On iPhone, the app asks before any of this is linked to your device. Once, through Apple's own tracking permission prompt. If you allow it, your device's advertising identifier is shared with Meta and our payments provider so that an install or a purchase can be attributed to the specific ad that led to it. If you decline, nothing changes in the app: every feature works, and measurement stays at the aggregate level, not linked to your device. On Android, the device's advertising ID is used the same way and can be reset or deleted in your device's Google settings.

This measurement is the whole of what those identifiers are used for. They are never joined to anything you write, because what you write never leaves your phone.

Children

Maura is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect anything from children.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, correction, erasure, portability and objection over personal data held about you.

In Maura's case these are unusually simple to exercise, because the data is on your phone rather than ours:

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
